A TWO days Sports Facility Survey Working Seminar (SFSWS) for sports associations in and around Auki town kicked off yesterday at the Rarasu Restaurant in Auki, Malaita province.
This training focused on rugby, football, tennis, athletics and volleyball officials.
Rep from each association in and around Auki town attended the training.
It was funded by the Ministry of Home affairs under its sports program.
A total of 23 participants from the five sporting associations attended the training the provincial sports coordinator Eddie Omokirio and rugby head coach Gerald Rikimani.
Facilitator John Wale from the Home Affairs during day one of the training explained to the participants how to organize themselves and establish small associations within their zones and wards.
“This is to make sure communities or wards within our constituencies have sports association.”
He told participants that during his visit to parts of the province, there were not enough sports associations being formed and lack of sports facilities.
Therefore he said, “this training well help you to assist children in your communities to improve and to address some of the sports challenges faced within your areas,“ Wale said.
Last week he visited Dala and parts of North Malaita.
Later this week he will visit part of Central Kwara’ae and along the South road area this week.
