THE five-week long political impasse that has got many people questioning who is the legitimate premier for Renbel province continues with Johnston Timothy calling on Premier Lence Tango to step down.
Mr Johnston was elected recently as the new premier of Renbel having had the majority of assembly members over ousted Premier Lence Tango.
However, more political twists had been seen over the past few days with the Attorney General’s Chamber, labelling the election of Mr Timothy as invalid and not according to law.
Mr Timothy has however, claimed to have full majority of assembly members, thus calling on Mr Tango to step down, adding that such would be in the best interest of the province.
“To step down and resign would be in the best interest of Renbel province,” he said.
“This political impasse has been going on for far too long.
“The only right thing to do is to resign and allow for the majority government to rule,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Timothy also labelled the AG’s letter as “interesting” adding that it did not mention anything about the majority vote.
“All that the AG spoke of was Mr Tango being the legal and rightful premier, however he fails to speak of us having the majority and Tango in the minority,” Mr Timothy said.
