THE dental department within the Ministry of Health and Medical Service in partnership with Colgate Palmolive Limited Fiji will launch their awareness program today.
It will be held at Kukum Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) School.
Head of population oral health and research unit with the dental department Dr Ellison Vane said, the program aims at educating school students to adopt the practice of tooth brushing with Colgate three times a day.
“We will basically teach children about tooth brushing so that when they grow up they will continue to brush their tooth.
“It is important for students to brush tooth with Colgate as tooth decay is a common disease affecting half of the population in our country as it is difficult for dentist to deal with,” Mr Vane said.
He said, as part of the program there will be presentation of prizes to winners of the competition last year during tooth brushing day for the best coloring poster.
Mr Vane said, the program will also be extended to Gizo in the Western Province.
