THE case of a 25-year-old man accused of murdering and raping a 29-year-old woman close to GPPOL II area in North Guadalcanal, has been committed to the High Court for trial.
Sonia Richard faces one count of murder and one count of Rape.
A committal hearing in the form of a short form preliminary inquiry was conducted on the previous court date.
On Friday, Deputy Chief Magistrate Ricky Iomea delivered his ruling, on which, he committed the matter to the High Court.
This was after he found sufficient evidence against Richard for him to face trial in the High Court.
The deceased, Salome Suri, was a 29 years old mother and she and her husband had one child together.
According to the allegations, Richard was intoxicated when he met Salome washing clothes at a well, a little far from her home on the morning of 21 May this year.
He allegedly attempted to grab her and have sex with her, but she resisted.
Richard then allegedly hit her forehead with a stone and proceeded to rape her.
It was alleged that the deceased died as a result of the attack.
