Deputy Premier of Western Province Wayne Maepio and his delegation have made a courtesy visit to the City Mayor Alference Fatai and the HCC Management, Monday.
City Clerk Charles Kelly said the visit is part of Western Province’s fact finding tour to learn about the operations and services of the Council which can help them to improve their services in the Province.
Mr Kelly said the most important part of their visit is for them to know more about the Rapid Employment Project (REP) which the World Bank would like to embark on, in the Western Province.
The Rapid Employment Project funded by the World Bank has made a great impact in Honiara City and Western Province is willing to engage it in Gizo and Noro.
“We are here to learn from HCC about it’s services and operations that can help us improve our services in the Province,” Deputy Premier Maepio said.
“We are really impressed with what the Rapid Employment project has achieved and we are here to know more and to see if this project can be established in the Provincial level,” he added.
Maepio further stated that the Western Provincial Government is here to show commitment and they are ready to welcome the project after all formalities are completed.
