Dreamcast Theatre Solomon Islands has announced the premiere of an unforgettable theatrical production that brings to life the untold stories of World War II through the eyes of Solomon Islanders. Titled WWII: A Story to Tell, this compelling performance will debut on May 26th 2025 with an exclusive premiere, with subsequent shows running from May 27th to May 31st, 2025, at the National Auditorium.
The exclusive premiere is set to start the 6-day theatre event with ticket prices especially higher than the subsequent 5 days.
This will be a corporate buffet style dinner event.
Inspired by the real-life accounts of Solomon Islanders who lived through the war, this production offers a deeply personal and moving perspective on a global conflict that forever changed the islands. Through powerful storytelling, music, and drama, audiences will witness the resilience, courage, and humanity of the men and women who experienced the war firsthand.
Writer and Director for the show, Ros Lawry talks about the process behind the writing and creation of the show.
“The characters are inspired by real individuals and their real stories, collected over 5 years from all over Solomon Islands”, she said. “We are diving into the stories and putting them together to ensure that the story of Solomon Islanders during the war. This is the first time in the world that the story of the second world war is told from the perspective of Solomon Islanders.”
Assistant Director of the show, Anil Nuia spoke about the efforts of the cast.
“This is a new experience for the cast members, we have introduced a much more classical style of theatre, fused with traditional elements that remain true to Solomon Islands.”
The show is set to hit the National Auditorium on the 27th to the 31st of May and tickets are now available at the Dreamcast Theatre Art Hub, Chinatown (Old Hams Theatre).
