2015 ACOMSIC Games kicked off Monday with a colourful parade into Lawson Tama stadium in Honiara.
The ACOMSIC Games which was last hosted by the Church of Melanesia 10 years ago was revived yesterday which saw 12 Church of Melanesia run schools participating in the event.
More than 890 athletes and officials from the provinces and Honiara are taking part in the weeklong sports event.
The 2015 ACOMSIC Games with the theme, ‘Embracing Culture, Peace, Unity and Friendship through sports’ was officially opened by the Minister of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs Jimson Tanangada.
Athletes from the 12 participating schools will compete in a total of six sporting codes namely; soccer, volleyball, netball, futsal, athletics and rugby sevens.
The ACOMSIC Games which was started yesterday will finish on Saturday 4th of July.
Most of the games will be played at the King George playing ground and others will be played at the Multipurpose Hall area.
