The Premier of Guadalcanal, Hon. Francis Sade, has strongly call on all people of Guadalcanal living in Honiara to refrain from any unlawful behaviors and activities that would further escalate the ongoing volatile situation in Honiara City and the Henderson area.
“I call on my good people of Guadalcanal to immediately refrain from any unlawful behaviors that further escalate the current situation in Honiara City and the Henderson area.
“The Guadalcanal Provincial Government condemns any involvement of Guadalcanal people in such unlawful manner.
“There are more peaceful ways to properly address such differences through democratic means. Political violence is not the solution to our diverse and close-knit communities like Honiara and Henderson” he explains.
Premier Sade makes the statement after rioters burnt down the ‘Leaf Hut’ inside the nation’s parliament compound, the Kukum Traffic Police Station, and burnt and looted other private shops at the Kukum Area.
He also calls on all provincial and national leaders to do the same to quell the ongoing situations.
“I humbly call on our national and provincial leaders to address the issues in your respective spheres of influence.
“What transpired today afternoon does not reflect our Hapi Isles.
“Let’s remain calm and respect our fellow citizens, private and public properties” he says.
He sums, “I thank the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force and the Fire Unit to calm the situations so far.”
