THE men accused of threatening workers of Dalgro Construction Company at Taba’a Bridge in North Malaita with a gun will enter their pleas on September 20.
This followed confirmation in court on Wednesday that all accused except for one of the accused are now legally represented by the Public Solicitor’s Office.
Public Solicitor’s Lawyer Clifton Ruele and his colleagues Lazarus Waroka, Daniel Kwalai and Alasia will represent Iki Olomea, Leonard Ofaga, Redley Abarai and Jimmy Eno Bana.
Mr Ruele said one of the accused Simon Fiusiale is yet to be allocated a lawyer.
He however assured the court he will inform the office manager so that a lawyer can be allocated to Fiusiale.
Also in yesterday’s hearing, Leonard surname was sorted out.
His surname according to the police file is Ofaka but the accused corrected that his name is Ofaga.
Mr Ruele said the defence counsels are all yet to receive the disclosures and sought an adjournment to allow counsels to take instructions from their clients.
Police Prosecutor Iete Tebakota said the file was supposed to be transferred to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions over the period of the last adjournment.
That was however not done but he told the court that will be done any time during this adjournment.
The men are jointly charged with one count of in possession of firearm and threatening violence.
This was in relation to an incident on 21 July at the Taba’a Bridge at Matakwalao where the four accused threatened the workers of Dalgro Construction Company.
Workers of Dalgro Construction Company that won the bid for Bridge Construction were working on the bridge when the men allegedly came and threatened them.
Prosecution alleged the men were under the influence of liquor at that time.
It was alleged that one of the men who was armed with a 303 rifle black in colour put in a bullet and cocked the gun and pointed it at the workers.
The workers allegedly left the site at the gun point.
