The prosecution will be updating the court on the status of investigation on the armed robbery of the Bank of South Pacific Bank (BSP) in Auki.
Public Prosecutor Bradley Dalipanda yesterday informed the court that he has updates from investigations on the matter.
He however said it was appropriate that he update the court on the next appearance when the defence counsels are present in court.
Lazarus Kwaiga of L & L Lawyers has written a letter to the prosecution and the court, to notifying them of his absence yesterday therefore sought an adjournment.
This is due to his engagement in the High Court with other matters.
He represents John Kiki and Nelson Ausolo.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Shepherd Lapo agreed with the prosecution and added that it is proper for prosecution to update the court on the status of investigation when all the defence counsels are present in court.
Only Jenny Namo of Public Solicitor’s Office was present in court who informed the court she will be representing Peter Eto Kafa.
The court also heard yesterday that one of the accused, Patrick Talo will need a new lawyer since George Gray of Public Solicitor’s Office will be going on a study leave.
He however said the court needs confirmation from the Public Solicitor’s Office on the legal representation for Talo.
The magistrates then ordered that he wanted to see Mr Kwaiga and PSO lawyers Sarah Karani and Namo in court on the next court date.
This is so that the prosecution can update the counsels in light of the status of investigation.
Solomon Wadily, Kiki, Ausolo, Talo and Kaka are accused of robbing the Auki BSP bank on the morning of 27 November last year.
Prosecution alleged some of the men were armed with firearms and fired a shot before they went into the bank.
They allegedly filled up bags with about (SBD) $200,000 and (US) $10,000 while one of them was standing guard outside the bank.
Prosecution further alleged that before they took off from the bank, another gun shot was fired.
They were all reportedly wearing masks at that time.
